1. Remove Snow

So, we have already delved into the biggest and likely most important part of maintaining your new roof in the winter time and that is snow removal. And, what luck! New Generation Roofing is ready to help you do that.

Over Thanksgiving this year most of Colorado got a lot of snow. This is not anything unusual mind you, but is certainly something you need to be aware of when it comes to your home roof. The snow we got over Thanksgiving was heavy and wet and has yet to melt. And while, allowing the snow to melt can sometimes be a viable option, if it is not going to melt soon and quickly, you must be sure that it is removed in order to protect your precious roof.

I know all that snow can look really pretty on top of your home. Especially as we head into the Christmas holiday, it can be tempting to let it stay and lot beautiful with all of your lovely Christmas lights shining through it giving is an ethereal glow.

But, do not be fooled. If that snow is not soon to melt aware due to all the many days of sunshine Colorado is famous for, then it will simply sit, weighing heavy on your roof and may easily cause damage. It will be unnecessary damage that you can easily avoid. So avoid it. Call New Generation Roofing to come help you get that pretty, but menacing and damaging snow off of your home’s roof.

2. Watch Out For Ice

The next great step toward maintaining your roof is linked to this winter season as well. Ice. When snow stays too long on your roof and when temperatures drop, ice becomes a big problem for your roof. Sometimes, even when it is not snow, but rain and then quickly dropping temperatures, ice can and will form on your roof top.

We will continue with all the reasons why you need to watch out for ice on your roof top. In the next few blogs we will keep you up to date with all you need to do to ensure the proper care of your home’s roof during what can be such brutal winters in our lovely state of Colorado.
