Insurance Information

Colorado is one of the most hail-prone states in the U.S.

Roofs are one of the most important parts of a home or building because they protect the structure from the natural elements. In other words, a roof is the first line of defense against Mother nature! If a severe hailstorm has passed through your community, it is possible that your roof may have been damaged. If you have a damaged roof, you’re likely going to have problems within your home or building. If you have experienced hail or high winds in your area here are a few simple steps on how to get started below.

  1. Contact a professional roofing company to schedule a free roof inspection.
    • If there is sustainable damage found move on to #2
    • If no damage is found, that is great news. No need to contact your insurance.
    • If no damage is found, take advantage to find out how your roof is doing and if its in overall good working order.
  2. Contact your homeowner’s insurance agent and let them know you’ve had a professional roofer inspect your roof and there is enough hail damage to justify filing an insurance claim.
    • You will be assigned a claim number and your insurance will send a field adjuster to assess the damage for themselves.
  3. Your insurance company will schedule a date and time for the adjuster to come out and inspect your property. Inform your New Generation Roofing insurance specialist so that they can meet with the field adjuster.
    • To ensure proper assessment of the damages sustained on your property, we highly recommend having a roofing professional present when the field adjuster comes out.
    • We will advocate for you to make sure you are covered.
  4. When the field adjuster has completed their own inspection, they will provide paperwork stating your scope of loss and the scope of work to be paid for.
    • Sharing this paperwork with your insurance claim specialist will ensure that both inspections are comparable and that any items are not missed.
  5. Your insurance will issue you a check for damages and to start the work. In most cases, this check is known as the Actual Cash Value giving you upfront funds and holding a portion of the funds known as Depreciation until all work is performed and invoiced.
    • Please note that you will most likely need to get your check endorsed by your mortgage company.
  6. New Generation Roofing will review your paperwork in detail and work with your insurance to acknowledge any missing, supplemental, or county code related items.
    • Our contract will be drafted up based by this paperwork.
  7. New Generation will meet with you to discuss scope of work, sign the contract, go over sample colors, collect the down payment, and discuss scheduling.
  8. New Generation Roofing will complete all agreed work on your property.
  9. Once the work is completed and final inspection is passed, New Generation Roofing will send a final invoice to your insurance company, letting them know that work is complete.
    • Your insurance company will then issue you a second check that may include:
      • Any depreciated funds that were held back (RCV policy)
      • Any supplemental amounts which may increase the total invoice amount originally agreed upon.
  10. Once you have received your final check from the insurance contact New Generation Roofing to collect payment and bring you any final paperwork (i.e warranty, certificate of completion, etc.) if not already received.
